We met at the airport in Montgomery and began our journey across the Atlantic. Like any plans you make, there are always some hiccups. We flew to Atlanta, had lunch, then boarded the flight to Frankfurt. We arrived around 7:15 am and after clearing customs, proceeded to the Hertz counter. We were told to return at 10:00am to pick up our car. We were early. So we spent a couple of hours drinking coffee and went back to pick up the rental car. The agent said the car was not there, come back later, that we should go have coffee. I told her we had all the coffee we could drink and we either needed a car or a cot. After an all night flight our sense of humor was wearing thin. We finally got our car at 11:00 and headed for our 1,000 year old castle in Colmberg, De. We had a great lunch at the Burg and checked into our rooms. After that we explored the local area until 6:00. After a late dinner, we retired to get ready for the next day.
